Wonderful antique DANNER FURNITURE COMPANY stacking bookcase!
John Danner formed his company in 1874. He patented a design for a revolving bookcase in 1876 and then won a gold medal for his invention at the 1878 Paris International Exhibit. Owning a bookcase from the Danner Furniture Company became a status symbol.
The makers mark for the company is painted “Trade Danner Mark” inside both the upper and lower cabinet. Cabinet dates to c. 1900+/-
Comprised of 4 pieces: (2) stacking sections each containing two divided compartments with adjustable shelving, each of the compartments is behind a sliding glass door. (1) a cornice top and (1) a base.
